Dive Insight:
King will be responsible for delivering Climate Impact Partners’ go-to-market strategy. Brand, demand generation and designing solutions will also fall under his portfolio, according to the release. Climate Impact Partners and Undo both inked carbon credit deals with Microsoft last year, and King is credited with leading Undo’s deal with Microsoft, as well as agreements with Barclays and McLaren, the release said.
King’s resume also includes a stint at S&P Global Ratings that lasted over seven years, with time spent as the company’s innovation and growth director and senior director of commercial strategy, according to his LinkedIn profile. He was also a co-founder of Hello Fresh in the United Kingdom, where he helped scale the recipe-based grocery delivery company.
“Climate Impact Partners is at the forefront of the carbon markets and I’ve seen first-hand the integrity and technical rigor they bring to the table,” King said in the release. “I am excited to lead this integrated team to help our clients unlock their climate goals and to ensure carbon finance continues to fund high-quality climate solutions globally."
King was chosen for his experience leading corporate growth and carbon market innovation, and Climate Impact Partners CEO Sheri Hickok said in the release that King’s hiring “is a clear signal of [CIP’s] growth ambitions.”
“[King’s] deep experience in the carbon removal space and his track record of scaling climate tech businesses will be vital as we expand our market presence and deliver results for our partners on the ground," Hickok said.
Microsoft and Undo signed three separate carbon removal agreements while King was at the company, and the most recent agreement between the companies was the largest yet. Under that deal, Undo will remove 28,900 metric tons of carbon dioxide for the tech conglomerate; it followed deals for 15,000 metric tons of carbon removals in 2024 and 5,000 metric tons of removals in 2023.
The Barclays deal with Undo was the bank’s first carbon removal deal, and it purchased over 6,500 metric tons of carbon removals from the enhanced rock weathering company last year.
