Dive Insight:
BCG’s incoming global climate and sustainability leader has been with the company for nearly 18 years. Since joining BCG, Bender has maintained a focus mainly on materials and process industry clients.
As global climate and sustainability leader, Bender will be focused on leading BCG’s practice in Europe, the Middle East, South America and Asia, according to his company profile. His work with the industrial goods practice has included a “particular focus on climate and sustainability, innovation, and commercial excellence,” BCG said, calling him a “core member” of the firm’s industrial goods segment.
“Planetary boundaries and resource scarcity are increasingly reshaping economies, industries, and value chains,” Bender said in his Nov. 2 post. “They are also catalysts for innovation, investment, and new opportunities for growth, competitiveness, and resilience.”
After joining BCG in 2009 as a consultant, Bender was named a project leader in 2012, a principal at the firm in 2013, managing director and partner in 2017 and added senior partner to his title in 2024, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Meinecke currently remains a managing director and senior partner for BCG, according to the firm’s website. He also is a member of the BCG Institute board of directors and represents the firm at the World Economic Forum, according to his bio.
“With climate risks accelerating and the green economy set to grow from $5 trillion today to $7 trillion by 2030, the business case for sustainability keeps getting stronger,” Meinecke said in his post. “I have full confidence in Jan and the team to drive more value and impact than we ever thought possible when we first started.”
